I’ve always thought ASAP was a great market, but now I know that the other posts about them selective scamming are true. I would suggest everyone avoid them and use competitors like Bohemia.
I know it’s stupid to leave money in any market, but I ended up leaving several thousand dollars in my ASAP account while I spent 4 months in jail. When I came out and saw that they were still around I was thrilled! I planned on using the money I had left to get an apartment while I find a job.
When I tried to withdraw the bitcoins I got an error message that said “Withdrawals have been disabled for your account”. I started a support ticket and waited and waited. After it became obvious they weren’t going to answer, I posted a thread in their subdread asking if the problem was universal. After I did that, /u/icecheap responded and said that they’d look into it.
/u/LeChacal responded to my ticket and asked if I could prove the account was mine. I thought that was strange, since I wasn’t asking for anything other than to use my own account and funds in the normal way. All I had done with the account is make one deposit, and one purchase. As far as I know I’m the only one who has access to my password and pin. Anyway I was able to prove it, by providing the delivery address for my last order (that was encrypted).
They still wouldn’t lift the restrictions on the account. He claimed to believe my account had been phished (even though I have my pin and know the delivery address!).
Now that I’ve raised a fuss about it, they fully deleted my account, stealing thousands of dollars from me. It’s a very rough time in my life, so they’re really kicking a man while he’s down, for what must amount to pocket change for them.
Buyers beware! There are far more honest markets out there.
